First Snow

We've had a very enjoyable autumn this year.  I was able to throw many rounds of disc in October and even some into mid-November.  We hadn't even had a measurable snowfall; well, until yesterday.  Earlier in the week the forecast was for 3-5" of the white stuff.  Then they upped it to 5-7".  I went and measured this morning and figure we had at least 9" and probably closer to 10".

the snow-covered pine trees are so pretty

Last night I came down with a nasty bug, temperature spiking to 103.  The fever broke in the night, but I wasn't looking forward to shoveling the driveway.  I refuse to get a snowblower since it ain't cheap, I'd have to store it, and I can use the exercise.  However, this morning I was wishing I could just wish the snow away.  Mare suggested we get some cousins to help out, but I was feeling a little better so figured I'd take it on.  It just seems weak to get a couple little guys to shovel your driveway; a man should shovel his driveway.  It usually takes me about an hour to shovel for such a large snow, but today it took a bit longer.  The temperature was perfect, about 25.  Anything warmer and I start to sweat; anything less and it becomes painful.  The worst thing about shoveling is not the snow, it's my nose.  When I hit the outdoors in the winter my nose starts a runnin' and never stops.  It's a frustration, but oh well.  But after an hour-and-a-half the driveway was done and I could head back inside.
